Mark Lievre

Kawau Project Manager

Mark Le Lievre was born and raised in a small south island country town in New Zealand called Akaroa. After school, he moved and worked around various parts of New Zealand working for Department of Conservation and operating his own contract fencing and arborist business. He has lived and worked in England, Ireland and Canada and has travelled a lot of Europe, Asia and South America.
Mark was involved in the Antipodes Island mouse eradication and Auckland Islands feasibility study to remove feral cats, pigs and mice in the subantarctic islands. He also worked on the Late island rat eradication in Tonga led by Island Conservation. Mark was part of the national eradication team with Department of Conservation trialling new baits to be registered for use in pest eradication.
Mark studied and completed national certificate in conservation through New Zealand’s Department of Conservation. Currently, Mark is employed as the Eradication Manager on the Kawau Island wallaby and possum eradication in New Zealand.
In his spare time, Mark enjoys tramping and camping in the hills of New Zealand. He loves recreational hunting, diving and fishing, and growing his own fresh organic vegetables.
