Our Board
Jim Torgerson
Jim Torgerson is the only Alaskan to lead a major national law firm, serving as the Firm Managing Partner of Stoel Rives. He recently returned to his Alaska-based practice where he has represented Alaska Native corporations for decades. Earlier, Jim worked in the United States Department of Justice, serving as both the chief of the civil division and chief of the criminal division of the Alaska U.S. Attorney’s Office. Jim is active in the nonprofit community, currently serving on the Board of the Anchorage Parks Foundation and joining Island Conservation after serving many years on the Board of Trustees for the Alaska Chapter of The Nature Conservancy and leading them as Chair in 2011 and 2012. His civic engagements include serving on the Board of Alaskans for Fair Courts and formerly for the University of Washington School of Law Alumni Association. Jim and his wife Morgan live in Anchorage. They love hiking—in all seasons and conditions.
