Sierra Moore

Conservation Innovation & GIS Specialist

Sierra graduated from Virginia Tech in 2021 with a degree in Wildlife Conservation and a minor in GIS. While a student at Virginia Tech, she worked as an undergraduate research assistant for various conservation research projects. This is where she developed a passion for combining her GIS skills and natural resource knowledge to enhance conservation efforts. Most recently, Sierra had an internship as a data science assistant with the Mojave Desert Inventory and Monitoring Network. She worked closely with dedicated field technicians and scientists to manage ecological databases and participate in remote fieldwork in the desert. Sierra is excited and grateful to be a part of the Island Conservation team where she will have the opportunity to support the GIS and data science needs across numerous projects, both in the field and remotely. When she’s not working, Sierra enjoys hiking, reading, thrifting, and improving her novice rock climbing skills.
