Lindsay Young
Lindsay is the Vice President of Research for the National Geographic Societys Pristine Seas program. She has spent more than 20 years conducting applied conservation research that spans the interface of marine and terrestrial realms through her work on the foraging ecology and conservation needs of marine birds. She previously served as the Executive Director and co-founder Pacific Rim Conservation, a non-profit organization dedicated to conserving and preventing the extinction of imperiled ecosystems throughout the Pacific. A world expert on marine birds, she is recipient of the Endangered Species Recovery Champion Award from the US Fish and Wildlife Service; the 2022 recipient of the Ralph Schreiber Conservation Award from the American Ornithological Society; and was a 2023 Fulbright US Scholar through the US Department of State. She has a BSc in Zoology from the University of British Columbia, and an MS and Ph.D. in Zoology from the University of Hawaii. She is an affiliate graduate faculty member at the University of Hawai`i Natural Resources and Environmental Management Department and a past visiting faculty member at the University of the Philippines, Semester at Sea through Colorado State University and Hokkaido University.
