Maximiliano Bello

Maximiliano Bello is an international ocean policy expert. His career and experience in the environmental arena have extended over two decades. He has worked for non-governmental organizations in Chile and the US including The Pew Charitable Trusts, Oceana, World Wildlife Fund, and the Blue Whale Center. Max has been involved in a wide array of international negotiations including the United Nations and UN conventions and bodies. At the same time, he has worked directly with governments in Latin America and around the world to establish marine protected areas or to secure protection for species or in general accelerate marine conservation. Bello was instrumental in securing protections for over 2 million km squared of countries’ territorial waters. Max has advanced degrees and diplomas in natural resources management and economics and works with actors across different sectors to secure conservation priorities. His portfolio is focused on advancing marine conservation policies and connecting ocean actions to climate ambition to build a more resilient planet.
